I am a mom of two sammy (9) and lanie (3) (soon to be 3 :-) and we started homeschooling two years ago when my son was in second grade. We started out with books and worksheets, spending hours everyday working and hating it! Thats when we discovered UNSCHOOLING! Yes im still very excited about it lol. It took us almost a year to deschool but we are finally on the path I was hoping to find. Sammy (9) is starting to ask more questions and also learning to find the answers on his own. This year he has started working on division problems and improving on multiplication. All of that has been done without me saying anything about it. I found a few free math apps and put them on his tablet. When he noticed they were there he started playing them. The hardest part for me has been to give in and just trust my kids. Public schools are great if you have no other choice, but the best teacher is life! Im also learning more with my kids then I ever did in school. Kids are born curious and have a strong desire to learn. All we have to do is trust in them and I promise they will shock and amaze you every day with something new.
